I chose tetras because they are colorful and fun to draw. They live in the Amazon. Tetra coloration is red and blue striped and they are easy to spot. Tetras are most well known as a popular aquarium fish. Because of their popularity in captivity, little is known about them in the wild. Their coloration is iridescent rather than pigment based, so their colors change based on the light. The reason for their bright coloration is unknown! As pets, they have been bred to have many other patterns. They eat mostly insect larvae, algae, and microscopic creatures . They are known to be highly social and travel in schools. How terrific to see a tetra!
